If you want to stay in a country house, with the guarantee of excellent quality and comfort, dare to discover Carya Tallaya, a bold and comfortable rural tourism project, one of the best in the Transcudânia region – on this side and beyond the Côa!

Carya Tallaya – is a family project with magnificent architecture, in which we have combined rustic and contemporary to welcome you into our home, with more and better comfort when you return to your origins, so that you can benefit from a well-deserved rest, in a reinvigorating stay in search of peace and tranquility.
Carya Tallaya offers 5 magnificent houses (four 2-bedroom apartments and one 1-bedroom apartment) that are as beautiful and seductive as they are surprising, due to the contrast they present between the traditional construction techniques on the outside and the sophisticated, contemporary and welcoming decoration of the inside. They are fully equipped, with a fireplace and central heating, a self-catering kitchenette equipped with all utensils and other equipment: refrigerator, microwave, ceramic hob, dishwasher, etc.
Although the outdoor areas of Carya Tallaya are shared, the houses are completely independent, which guarantees absolute privacy. The exterior includes a vegetable garden, garden, swimming pool and a social area, comprising a porch with a fireplace for receptions and socializing among guests.
The Carya Tallaya country houses are located in Vale das Éguas, which is not only the smallest parish in the municipality of Sabugal, with a surface area of just 4.03 km2, but also the one with the least inhabitants, just 38 people. It is also the parish with the highest ageing rate in Portugal, with around 90% of residents being over 65 years old.
We want to introduce you to the smallest and most "aged", but tender, parish of Ribacôa - municipality of Sabugal and Portugal.
Small in size but grand in charm. With few inhabitants but with many harmonious, calm and silent places:

• landscapes as far as the eye can see;
• paradisiacal paths to the nearby Côa River, with its river beach as lovely as it is welcoming;
• fantastic surroundings, with a vast and rich historical heritage;
• excellent central location in relation to five Historical Villages;
• central location in relation to the Five Castles Route;
• enchanting and diverse natural beauty;
• proximity to the Serra da Malcata Nature Reserve;
• the unparalleled friendliness and humility of its people;
• the splendid Termas do Cró with its SPA&Wellness service, which are five minutes away.

We want to provide those who come to us with a return to their origins, a very close contact with the past, with the immense and impressive historical heritage that goes from the late Bronze Age, through the Roman and medieval periods to the present day.
This could be your opportunity to discover the Route of the Five Castles in the municipality of Sabugal, the Serra da Malcata Nature Reserve and the possibility of visiting some of the most wonderful Historical Villages in the region (Sortelha, Castelo Mendo, Almeida, Belmonte and Castelo Rodrigo).
To end your tour, we have the ideal suggestion for a well-deserved relaxation: the very modern Termas do Cró, very close by, where you can recover your strength at Cró Ludic, enjoy a fantastic experience at Cró Clássico, or treat your body to a treatment at Cró Corpus.
The programs and activities offered by the Carya Tallaya houses are very diverse.
If you prefer to relax, you can choose to stay in the small complex, enjoying the warmth of a fireplace in cold weather or on hot days a refreshing dip in the original swimming pool, located in its rustic garden.

If you enjoy hiking, the walks through the isolated and peaceful village will provide unique experiences, with everything you can enjoy in the utmost tranquility.
Venture along different trails to glimpse the natural and historical heritage that exists in the surroundings (the Côa River and its banks, small woodlands and forests, observation of the region's fauna and flora, ruins of water mills, imposing castles and magnificent medieval bridges).
For the youngest and more daring adults, donkey, horse or pony rides can be arranged.
For those with more specific and/or extreme tastes, there are canoes on the Côa River (river beach), you can fish in the river, go cycling and there is the possibility of more extreme activities at ParKôa (extreme sports park), nearby (source of the Côa).
Significance of the name Carya Tallaya and the logo (dandelion)
The name Carya Tallaya, which means Fortified Village, refers to our origins and the first peoples, and is associated with a sense of strength, protection, security and comfort.
We adopted the symbol of the dandelion flower for the logo of the space, which due to its nature and characteristics manages to be both a beautiful and sensitive plant, yet cohesive, making it one of the most altruistic in nature, as this small flower gives itself up so that its seed can propagate, it is capable of stripping itself bare so that its beauty can spread, it has the ability to surrender to the fearful wind with the purpose of offering a beautiful legacy to Mother Nature.

This relationship between the name and the symbol reminds us of the values and legacy we want to offer to those who seek us out, ensuring them support and comfort, which we repay with great sensitivity and charm in everything we have to offer within our walls, but in communion with the entire surrounding rural space.

Welcome home!

Welcome to Carya Tallaya!
